This project aims to explain how the early Chinese interpreted music. Much of the music we know of today stems from Western roots, but a little known fact is that the Chinese has been tinkling with music since early times.

This project will start by presenting modern acoustics theory, as well as some fundamental music theory. This is to aid understanding of the discussion of the generation of the Chinese musical scale in later sections. There would be some visual and audio applets to illustrate some of the concepts presented.

We will end off with a commentary and analysis of the works of the early Chinese in this field, to help readers grasp a better overview of why these works are relevant to modern day music.

Hopefully, this project will be able to give the reader more insight into how Chinese music has developed since olden times, and to be able to appreciate its intricacies better.
