CZ HONOURS PAGE 2006/2007

The honours coordinator is A/P Weizhu Bao

The honours project represents a requirement that you exhibit what, at NUS, is called self-learning.  In that vein, it is instructive to note this statement from Gene H. Hostetter (in Fundamentals of Network Analysis) on teaching and learning-
"There is a common idea to the effect that teaching consists of a transfer of knowledge from one mind to another by a hazy process resembling osmosis or the spread of germs.  To the contrary, learning is a highly individual experience. A good teacher and a good textbook may allow you to proceed more rapidly than would otherwise be practical, by organizing and pacing the material.  You, however, are the one who does the learning; you are the one who achieves the understanding.  One of the goals of a professional education is for you eventually to reach the point where you can make good progress in a subject on your own, without classes and teachers.  Many of you will one day explore brand new subjects before there are teachers or textbooks to teach them."

Check out the available honour's projects for the current year.  For more information on these projects, make inquiries to the supervisor.
