Course Outline: The course will focus on introduction of partial differential equations in science, engineering and other fields; finite difference methods for simple examples of parabolic, hyperbolic and elliptic equations; finite element, finite volume and spectral methods are discussed briefly to see how they relate to the main theme. Methods are described in detail for simple problems, accompanied by typical graphical results. Furthermore the concepts of local truncation error, order of approximation, consistency, convergence and stability for analyzing numerical methods are introduced. Detail Outline

Grading: The course grade will be calculated as follows: Final exam: 50%; Projects and Homework assignments: 50%.
