- special case of sqrt(x)

- derivative of c*f(x)
- derivative of f(x) +/- g(x)
- derivative of f(x)*g(x) (product rule)
- derivative of f(x)/g(x) (quotient rule)
- some examples:
- tangent line to 1/sqrt(x) at (16,1/4)
- derivative of sin(x)*x^(2/3)
- assume we know sin'(x) = cos(x)

- derivative of (3*x^(-5/4))/(4*x^3 - x^2 + 2)

- compute derivative rule for x^3.
