I chose NUS Mathematics because it offers a great curriculum that balances core mathematical theory with opportunities to dive deeper into areas that really interest me. What really attracted me were the special programmes and communities within the faculty that bring together students who share a passion for math. Being part of these
groups helped me stay motivated and connected with peers who love math as much
as I do.
I really enjoy the academic freedom and wealth of resources that NUS offers. It gives me space to explore different subjects and follow my curiosity beyond the classroom. This freedom helped me grow not only academically but personally — learning how to manage my time, prioritize, and pursue interests independently. These experiences shaped my career aspirations by helping me understand what kind of work excites me and where I want to focus my efforts in the future.
To prospective students considering Mathematics at NUS, remember that it does not lock you into one fixed path. If you enjoy abstract thinking and are curious about where reasoning and logic can take you, I’d encourage you to give math a try. The skills you develop open doors to many different careers and ways of thinking. Keep an open mind and take advantage of the opportunities NUS offers — you might be surprised where math can lead you!
