Date/Time:23 Oct 2019 10:00 Venue: S16 #03-09 Speaker: Allan Merino, National University of Singapore Character Varieties Giving a pair (Gamma, G), where Gamma is a finitely generated group and G a complex algebraic reductive group, we define the GIT-quotient Hom(Gamma, G) // G: it’s the character variety corresponding to (Gamma, G). One can determine a set of generators when G = SL(V), Sp(V) and O(V) using results of Weyl and Procesi, and for G = SO(V) using a paper of Zhu-Aslaksen-Tan and a recent result of Sikora. In my talk, I will explain first how can we determine these generators. At the end, I will present an ongoing project, joint with Clement Guerin, concerning the character variety of Spin(n) and G2. Date/Time:25 Sep 2019 10:00 Venue: S16 #03-09 Speaker: Max Gurevich, National University of Singapore Robinson-Schensted-Knuth correspondence at the service of p-adic GL(n) In a joint work with Erez Lapid we constructed a new class of representations based on applying the RSK algorithm on Zelevinski’s multisegments. Those constructions have the potential to be an alternative to the commonly used basis of standard representations. Intriguingly, this class also turned out to categorify a 45-year-old development in invariant theory: The Rota basis of standard bitableaux. I will talk about this classical theme and its relation to representations of p-adic GL(n), as well the expected properties of our new class. Add to calendar:

Date/Time:04 Sep 2019 10:00 Venue: S16 #03-09 Speaker: Cheng Yao, Sinica Special Value formula for twisted triple product L-function and an application to the restricted L^2-norm problem In this talk we will present an explicit Ichino’s formula [Ich08] for the central value of the twisted triple product L-function associated to Maass forms. To establish such a formula one need to carry out explicit computations for the local period integrals appearing in Ichino’s formula. We prove an identity between the local period integral and a product of two Rankin-Selberg integrals in order to simplify the calculations. This identity generalizes the result in [MV10]. Our explicit formula has an application to the optimal upper bound of a sum of restricted L^2-norms of the L^2-normalized newforms on certain quadratic extensions with prime level and bounded spectral parameter.
